Colbert's Name Taken In Vain!
Something happened today at my fiance’s workplace that put my padlock keyring incident to shame.
A little background: D works at a VoIP company (internet telephony) where international customers pay by credit card, wire transfer, etc. This morning, one of his co-workers received a suspicious credit card number from a new potential customer. In the spirit of politeness (he was pretty certain it was fraudulent), the co-worker requested a scan of official identification.
I kid you not, this is what the guy sent (larger version here):

Now, let’s ignore the obvious for a second. Despite being of French nationality, his name is allegedly “Haly Brown Jay,” and evidently passport agencies not only allow you to scan your signature in, but your signed name matching your given name is not a requirement.
That being said, Stephen Colbert?! D and his office are fairly certain that this was a genuine attempt at opening an account (albeit with a fake/stolen credit card), so why this guy settled on a poorly cut and pasted pic of Colbert is beyond me.
Needless to say, they did not approve his account.
